Hi! My name is Jess Hetzel! I have SMA type 2, I’m a sophomore at Central Michigan University studying public relations and event management. My goal for the future is to be living in New York City working for Madison Square Garden as the Senior Publicist or Events Coordinator. I love live music and I think that everyone should be able to experience it, so my goal is to make live music more accessible. I am a dog mom to my service dog Emerson, I love traveling, shopping, public speaking and going to concerts. With this blog I’ll be writing about all things disability related, travel, music and concerts, and body positivity.
Five words that describe who I am: determined, organized, passionate, funny and an advocate.
An experience that has helped define me as a person and a professional was being the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) State Ambassador. This position helped me grow my public speaking and networking skills. Being the ambassador showed me my true passion for disability advocacy and my public speaking skills created connections to the professional world.
My personal mission statement is “grow through what you go through and always be kind.”
If you love any of these things let’s connect! Happy to have you here.
